FUN TIME WITH THE RESIDENTS ~ 2009

Lunar New Year Specials For All Our Residents
On the first day of Lunar New Year, the senior management team of China Healthcare (including Group Executive Chairman, Executive Director and Group CEO) paid a customary visit and extended our best wishes to our residents with sweet mandarin oranges and Ang Baos. A tradition we observe every year to the delight of all the residents at Econ Medicare Centres and Nursing Homes. Amidst the festivities, over at Sunnyville Home, a group of kind-hearted volunteers, sweet candies and Mandarin oranges in tow, paid its residents a memorable Lunar New Year visit. The boisterous celebrations began with lion dance and popular New Year tunes. Topping off the amazing afternoon were great performances by magicians and balloon artist.

Weekly Qigong Sessions For Our Residents
A Qigong program was recently introduced free-of-charge for all the residents of ECON Medicare Centres and Nursing Homes. Regular practice of this traditional Chinese discipline improves metabolism, blood circulation, and the overall immunity. Led by Mr. Lee, the residents thoroughly enjoyed every session to date. As such, this beneficial programme will be extended to include the families of our residents. To register, please contact the respective persons-in-charge of ECON Medicare Centres and Nursing Homes.

Resident Mr Chee: Step By Step Towards Recovery
Seeing our patients improve day to day and eventually going home is the best outcome we can hope for in their treatment. The delight on the face of cancer survivor, Mr Chee Keng Seng, during his discharge in July was mirrored by all who helped care for him.

Our dedicated nursing staff was an important factor in his recovery. It was their care and concern while treating him that kept his spirits up and aided his return to health. Mr Chee's wounds required dressing every day, and he received regular medical consultations to closely monitor his condition and progress.

Our staff also made sure that Mr Chee received plenty of motivation to continue his rehabilitation, and as such, various outings and activities were planned for him. Mr Chee's son, Mr Alex Chee attributed this as another factor in helping to improve his father's condition. Events included our first ECON lnter-centre Lantern Making Competition, which saw Mr Chee's lantern being awarded first prize.

Spread The Love - Cultivate The Volunteering Spirit
ECON Medicare Centre (Choa Chu Kang branch) had two recent visits by volunteers from nearby schools.

ln April 2009, students from Greenridge Secondary School put on an entertaining programme of song performances to entertain our residents. This was followed by a presentation of funds raised from the sale of 600 ice-creams in the school.

The second visit, conducted by a group of 20 students from Pioneer Junior College, took place in June. The students sang, danced and played games with the residents during their two-hour visit.

Appreciation-Cum-Farewell Bukit Timah Party
An appreciation-cum-farewell party was held in April in appreciation to our residents, their family members and sponsors for their continuous support towards ECON Nursing Home (Bukit Timah Branch). Together, we took a walk down memory lane as we watched a video screening of the building of our first nursing home and the development of ECON Medicare Centres and Nursing Homes as well as the appreciation speech by our Group CEO.

A bitter-sweet event, the mood was lightened with a tea reception and entertainment in the form of modern dance and a Myanmar song performed by staff.
